Thank you

"Thank you." Those are two simple words that mean a ton. They can vary in their weight but they always mean the same thing. You can say thank you when someone holds the door open for you, or hands you something you dropped. You can say thank you when you messed up and someone chooses to forgive, or thank you to your parents and the people who made you who you are. You can say thank you to the God of the universe for everything. Saying thank you about holding the door open versus thank you to the God who created you, should be different, but sometimes they aren't.

You write thank you letters after your birthday, or when someone is generous and goes out of their way to show it. But have you ever thought about writing a thank you letter to God? A letter expressing your gratitude and adoration for the God of the universe?

Neither had I, but I started thinking about it... So here is a snapshot of what my thank you letter to God would look like today (it includes some snippets from some of my prayer journals over the past months too...) It changes everyday but the message is still the same; Thank you God.

God,

I just want to say thank you for April 11, 2018. Thank you for the air in my lungs. Thank you that the sun rose today. Thank you that spring is (hopefully!) coming soon.

Thank you for all the talents and gifts you have given me and for making me unique. Thank you that I think through everything and thank you that I can lead and encourage others. Thank you for my brain. Thank you for my body. Thank you for my heart.

Thank you that I can attend college and get an education. That I can take tests in psychology. And that I can go to a Christian university to learn more about you.

Thank you for the people you have placed in my life to come alongside me and encourage and love me; for Mom and Dad, Caleb, Mason, Liz, and every other person I came in contact with today. Thank you for keeping me safe as I went about my day. Thank you for the food I ate today. Thank you for the ability to run and play soccer.

Thank you for your unfailing grace. Thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you for your compassion and mercy. Thank you that you are greater than my sins. Thank you that through you, I am not dependent on myself. Thank you that you are in control of my life, not me and that you have a better plan for my life than I have for myself.

Thank you that you sent your son, Jesus Christ, to die my death on the cross to forgive ME. Thank you for the overwhelming and radical love that you have for me that you would sacrifice your greatest treasure to have a relationship with and to love me.

Thank you Jesus for my countless blessings. I love you.

Love,

Savannah

What would your thank you letter look like today? Remember to thank God today, and everyday for the things He's blessed you with!

Go out and live fearlessly! We love you!
