Stay in Your Lane!

Recall the last time you were on the interstate for a long drive. Your stomach has started growling, you are parched, but you also have to pee, it is quite the predicament. You fight the mental battle of pulling off at the next exit or waiting until you get to your exit. Everything is screaming in you "exit now" but as soon as you do you know you'll hear you GPS say "recalculating."

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." - Hebrews 12:1-3

Often times I find that everyone I know has a better path than I do. My path always seems like a battlefield bullets flying towards me and all too often hitting me. How come I am on a battlefield but everyone around me is skipping through roses? I want to get off at the next exit. I want to stop and get what everyone else has before I move on in the game of life. Y'all I don't think I can stress enough how much time my brain spends convincing me that my life is horrible.

THIS IS MY RACE! The challenges placed before me aren't placed in front of me so that I fail but so that I can continue to stand and fight. No matter where we are in life there will always be someone who seems better off than we are. Comparing yourself to others is not going to help you win your battles. It actually just gives you a whole new battle.

~Lord, control and consume my thoughts~

We are each surrounded with different battle buddies or clouds of witnesses. Don't compare yourself to them. Come alongside them and conquer this thing. Sin already entangles all of us so easily and we need one another and Christ to overcome them, so let's stop tearing ourselves down with comparisons.

Each of us have a race perfectly picked out for us. That means there will be challenges that are designed to shake us to our core and strengthen us. With our eyes fixed on Christ and our hearts full of His joy, Our Savior fought the ultimate battle dying on the cross and conquering the grave.

No matter how badly you want to exit, don't make the GPS recalculate just because you see something you want. Be patient and stay in your lane. Who knows the gas prices may be cheaper at the next exit. Never forget that you can push through your breaking point, the best is yet to come.

Don't lose heart my friends, we have been called to being different. Let this song from Micah Tyler encourage you as you face the difficulties of your battles.

Go start running and stay in your lane!

You've got this because God's got you!
